When it comes to traveling, talking to a friend or travel agent provides more personal insights into a location, unlike researching information yourself. And with the expanding limitations in technology, researching everything yourself becomes a hassle. Below are reasons why current solutions remain ineffective.

  • Some users that were handicapped (elderly, disabled, etc) had concerns about safety management, and how the app would balance effectiveness with safety.

  • Built-in tour guides would significantly help the user experience by giving live updates and feedback and/or heads-up information about a location beforehand.

  • A common problem found in those who travel, language and communication should be a primary focus for travel tools. In the future, maybe voice and audio will be implemented.

Along with language translation already being considered, this mobile experience would be very similar to web.

Traveling in general uses an extensive amount of processing power, leading to stress, fatigue, or abandonment in the worst cases. With the high stakes on the line (pricing, time/resource commitment), this is a main area with the most friction. FLOMAD attempts to navigate this through its travel agent, who is able to take all a user's preferences and transform it into a preferable itinerary.

The app focuses on designing for the 3 theoretical psychological needs known as autonomy, relatedness, and competence, also known as the self-determination theory. When these needs are met, motivation is heightened, which I believe is particularly important for NERO.

In the travel industry, common information that should be presented clearly are transportation modals, travel times, pricings, and review. When things happen that are out of a user's expectations in high-stake situations, confusion affects conversion rate. FLOMAD looks to emphasize flexibility in the user's choices while keeping all necessary information transparent.

Flomad hopes to reshape the way we use artificial intelligence in the travel industry. By accelerating, organizing, and helping the user throughout the planning phase and beyond, they can spend more time traveling and less time stressing.
